Fire crews were called to Hardown Hill, near Charmouth, on Thursday evening after receiving calls about a vehicle fire on Hardown Hill, Dorset.
One crew from Charmouth was mobilised. On their arrival, it was found that the car had spread to approximately one hectare of woodland and scrub. A further five appliances were then requested – two heavy off-road vehicles from Bridport and Weymouth and three light off-road vehicles from Maiden Newton, Beaminster and Chard.
After making good progress, the incident was left with rotating crews of Landrover pumps, each carrying out four-hour stints at continuing to dampen down the fire using hose reel jets and beaters. Fire officers remained on scene on Friday.
