Stoke Abbott Street Fair kicks off with the traditional ‘Stoke Abbott Sick Club’ parade at 1.45pm, a tradition dating back in one form or another to 1870.
From 2pm, there will be an exciting array of stalls, a fun Family Dog Show, live entertainment, a classic car display, local craft demonstrations plus a Children’s Fancy Dress parade and Dressing the Well ceremony. In addition to a Children’s Games Garden, children of all ages are invited to come in fancy dress, take part in craft activities and parade through the village at 3.15pm. The theme is Woodland Creatures.
There’s live entertainment throughout the village and the New Inn garden will play host to live music and a barbecue. Set out along the lanes, traditional village-run stalls will include cakes, plants, jams, jewellery, ‘Granny’s Attic’, a gift tombola, crafts and books.
Delicious cream teas will be served throughout the afternoon in the village hall. Free car parking is available on the road into the village from Beaminster only. There is an entry fee of £1 per adult (children free). Proceeds will go to St Mary’s Church, the village hall and a local charity.
