NOISY Oyster starts the August summer programme of events at the Lyric theatre, when this innovative company brings Dangerous Dave, a comic adventure, to the Bridport theatre on Wednesday 1st August at 11am.
Dangerous Dave, infinitely more “daft” than “dangerous,” and his ridiculous sidekick Herbert Lemon, present some of the most mind-bendingly silly stunts ever performed.
Marvel as the miniature superhero fights his way out of a wet paper bag, climbs the slippery pole of peril, plunges into a domestic food processor, attempts to escape from the pickled egg jar of DOOM, and becomes the totally fearless un-human Cannon Ball! Noisy Oyster makes a welcome return to the Lyric after previous family shows including Three Billy Pigs, Higgledy Piggledy Pie and The DaSilva Marionette Circus.
There is puppet making fun with Holly Miller at the Lyric, with monster making on Thursday 2nd, from 10am to 2pm, using recycled fabrics, plastics, cardboard and materials; dancing puppets on Tuesday 7th from 10am to 2pm, and surprise puppets, a chance to make a hiding place for your puppet, on Thursday 9th, also 10am to 2pm.
On Tuesday 14th, the Lyric has three sessions with the messy art group Oops Wow! The “I Am The Art” abstract geometric workshops are inspired by costumes from the Bauhaus Ballet. Participants will become works of art, dancing spheres, wobbling oblongs, sculptures that perform and run and play. They will also make bags of art, art bags – paint it or print it, take it away and carry it with you always.
There is a morning session for two to four-year-olds (ish, siblings can be different ages) from 10.30am to noon. The afternoon session is for four to seven-year-olds (plus siblings) from 1.30 to 2.30pm.
